I want to ask if the serverscheck appliance is safe from viruses. Since it is running in windows and appliance is not recommended to install anti-virus. What do you recommend for us to avoid the appliance in viruses?

Antivirus software may affect performance of monitoring application and has in the past due to false positives caused permanent or temporary damage to the system/appliance.

Any system is vulnerables to attacks. This not only applies to our appliance but to any device running an OS. Linux kernel 2.4 has a known vulnerability and there are thousands of different appliances still using it today.

Best practice is to put AV and filtering on a network level and lock the device down on a firewall level. Besides port 1272 for the web interface it doesn't require any incoming connections.

Any system is vulnerable as soon as you open it up. Not just for viruses but also for hacks, DoS attacks etc...

Firewall ports needed are listed on the wiki.
