Checking Exchange Server

RafaelRafael
Hi,

I am trying to check several different "Microsoft Exchange Information Store" services wich are located on remote sites. When my WAN links get congested, the check returns DOWN.

Question. Is there an alternative way do make this check?(well what I really want to check is if the private and public stores are up and running).

Many thanks

For what you say, your network is the issue. If you network is congested, then check requests time out.

Try to increase the retry level.
  • RafaelRafael
Is it possible, instead, to increase the request time out value?
  • AdministratorAdministrator
No the timeout for WMI is a Windows specific value and can not be changed. Increase the retry level.
  • RafaelRafael
Well, may be it's my misunderstanding, but...

    If I set:

"Number of retries before rule fails" = 5

    and

    "Minimal interval between 2 checks" = 180

... does it mean it will take 15 minutes to send me an alert?
  • AdministratorAdministrator
It will retry 5 times with 3 minutes between each retry and if down after 5 retries (or 15 minutes), then only it will send an alert.

Reduce either the retry interval or the number of retries.

If you experience WAN issues, you might consider using IP-Muxing to prioritize traffic towards your servers.

Another solution is to install a copy of ServersCheck in the same segment as your Exchange systems
