About USB connected GSM adapter?

HoffaHoffa
Greetings

My company where I hope to use Servercheck has an completly IP-based telephony solution and very bad provisions for connections to POTS.

I got a Falcom USB connected GSM adapter and it works using the included software but ServersCheck gives really weird results.

Is this supposed to work or am I trying in vain?

Regards

Fredrik Hofgren

I´ve tried everything but chaning the protocol to X.75. I can´t find the setting in XP or Windows 2003.

Also I wounder if there is some webpage where you can find valid numbers to the providers SMSC?

    Update

I´ve now tried ServerCheck with a regular modem with audio on and the problem with the NO CARRIER seems to be that the SMSC of the different providers don´t or can´t answer when ServersCheck dials in.

My first post is still the same with a regular modem

Your mobile operator returns "NO CARRIER" to the ServersCheck module.

Please verify with your mobile operator for the of this message.

  • HoffaHoffa
I´ve just done that and they say it´s the right number. No other information is given
  • AdministratorAdministrator
OK but why do they return NO CARRIER ? It is a reply from their systems.
  • HoffaHoffa
What I gather from the modemo audio NO CARRIER is the response sent when there is no response on the number dialed.

My question is how can this be on a number working in other SMS software but not using Serverscheck?
  • AdministratorAdministrator
If your modem is set to X.75 for the UCP protocol and the number is working, then you need to investigate with your mobile operator.

    Alertnative solutions:

1/ if you state that other apps work with that number and if they are command line, then use the "application" alert option

B/ you can use the optional GSM modem feature

C/ you can use the ClickAtell service
  • HoffaHoffa
What is this X.75 setting and where do I find it?

    Alternatives

    1 I will investigate.

B What exactly does this mean? I´ve tried all the mentioned solutions above both with a regular modem and a USB GSM adapter.

C Not an option at this moment

This is a very frustrating problem for me, I was almost ready to order Serverscheck MX1 when I ran into this. Since the SMS over GSM feature is essential to us I would like to get it working since I like the other features of Serverscheck
  • AdministratorAdministrator
Sorry I just now realize that you are using a GSM modem.

As per our help file, this needs to be a data modem and not a GSM modem.

For a GSM modem you need to the optional software for GSMSoft.nu (see help file):

    http://www.serverscheck.com/help6/definesms_gsmsoft.html
  • HoffaHoffa
I´ve read about this Mobile Messenger but was hoping there was a more direct solution to GSM SMS without the use of an external application. Mobile Messenger is really unstable.
  • AdministratorAdministrator
The standard option is to use a data modem and not a GSM modem.

If you want to use a GSM modem, then Mobile Messenger is the only option.
