Alerts error

FrancescFrancesc
Hello,

We're using Servers Check Enterprise MX2 editios under Windows 2003. We don't have any antivirus, firewall, proxy or ISA Server.

When an alert occurs, sometimes the e-mail doesn't arrive. The smtp.log file shows:

Fri May 12 06:30:12 2006 Correu CS622 is OK -> Sending SMTP alert to operadors@diba.cat through internal mail server. Returned: ERROR: Unable to process due to missing Mail Server. Please check .conf file!

After this, the backup mail server sends the mail, but with subject and body empties. And as the mail is empty, our anti-spam system triggers and deletes the mail before it arrives to our alert mailbox.

Why sometimes the internal mail server works and sometimes not?

And how can I do to send the alerts correctly with backup mail server instead of empties?

I've tried to edit the file C:Program FilesServersCheck_Monitoringalertssmtp.conf adding SUBJECT: XXXX and BODY:XXXX , but minutes after, the file changes and the fields get empty again.

Greetings,

Francesc

Internal mail server uses MX record lookup. If the record lookup is not possible, then the email can not be sent. Check your DNS servers.

It is recommended to use a SMTP relay server (Outgoing mail server option).

The smtp.conf is a file that is continously updated and holds the message data as generated by the software.
