Checks behind a firewall

FrancescFrancesc
Hello,

We have some machines placed behind a firewall, so the monitoring rules falls.

Which port should I open to use ServercCheck?

Greetings,

Francesc

Depends on what type of checks you are executing on the machines that are behind the firewall.

Performance counters (CPU, memory and disk ussage).

Windows checks use the WMI and Netbios protocols. These need to be open.

Netbios traffic should be allowed as well as following ports:

    137, 138, 139, 445

wmi is transported using DCOM, which uses RPC. If a firewall is preventing ICMP (Ping) then the server will not receive the command. Likewise, if a server is allowing ICMP, but not RPC, then the wmi command will still fail.

I must warn you that opening such ports opens a potential security risk.
