URL Image Rule Not Working Properly

brucebruce
I have just downloaded this product to test out for potential deployment into my environment, specifically to watch for image failures of drafts (checks) in an online banking system.

However, I am not able to use the "URL Image" rule successfully. It seems pretty basic, probably doing something simple like checking the page type to see that it matches, such as "image/gif". But the URL string for an .asp page doesn't GET the right information.

I can put in a URL to a specific image, such as "http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/ww/beta/y3.gif" and it will correctly verify that the image is ok as a gif. However, with an .asp page, such as "https://[server_sanitized]/showimage/showimage.asp?rt=123456789&rs=WHSFGJKVGGENPVQKCCKVIFL&ac=123456789&sn=1234&am=10.00&dc=08/02/2007&tr=2000175&face=F"

the check fails. ServersCheck does not seem able to properly retrieve this URL as a GIF.

Is there any way to successfully have ServersCheck retrieve an image from this type of .asp URL string?

in the forthcoming 7.6.3 we have improved the error messages.

as you correctly state, ServersCheck verifies that the content type in the HTTP header matches the expected one.

    there might be 2 issues:

    - asp (although we tested it against dynamic Yahoo stock images where it works fine)

    - https mode

If you can provide a full url in HTTPS mode, then we could test it for you.

Here is the URL of an image on a test account:

    https://xxxx

I appreciate you looking into this and letting me know whether I can make this work.

The method we use seems to cause an issue. I have forwarded it to a developer so that he can work on it and make it work.

We have found a fix for it on the test URL you gave and we will be able to release it tomorrow.

That's fantastic! You've definitely exceeded my expectations!

    Can you try it out?

Download the following 2 apps and replace the current ones in your main ServersCheck folder with the downloaded ones. Make sure to stop the "ServersCheck Monitoring Service" first.

Excellent - I will test it out this morning and provide feedback.

One sidebar question - as a forum admin, could I ask you to delete, or at least sanitize (replace the server with xxx.yyy.com and obfuscate some of the variables) the test URL that I posted? While it is a test draft, I'd prefer not to have such information left in an open forum.

    Thank you so much!

I've tested the two patches in my test lab and they fixed the issue. Thanks for such a fast response! The features and functionality had pretty much won me over, but the support on this issue has now put this product at the top of my list for purchase and implementation.

Also, thank you for deleting the URL from earlier.
